A native of San Francisco, I’ve had many jobs: taxi driver, social worker, attorney, photographer, scuba divemaster. I’ve always loved creating things. In addition to fine art photography, I’ve experimented with silkscreening, hand crafted paper products, handmade books, and ceramics.
I turned to jewelry about 20 years ago, after breaking my ankle while climbing down the Bandiagara Escarpment in Mali. Unable to walk, I had a shopkeeper bring African crafts to my room, and I discovered handmade African beads. I was hooked! I started learning about gemstones and jewelry-making, and studied goldsmithing at Scintillant Studio in San Francisco.
Using generations-old hand building techniques, each piece of jewelry is crafted from sterling silver, 18 carat gold or 22 carat gold gold: rolled, pulled, extruded, sawn, filed, sanded, soldered or fused and cut. My studio produces only one-of-a-kind collections, with an emphasis on sustainable and responsible practices.
